The Okanagan Health Service Area begins in the north at Grinrod and follows Hwy 97 south to the border, goes as far east along Hwy 6 to Cherryville and west along Hwy 3 to Princeton and Coalmont. Both Vernon (for the north) and Penticton (for the south) have Service Area Hospitals, while Kelowna hosts one of two Tertiary Referral Hospitals within Interior Health.

ARTHRITIS Society of BC 

The Kelowna Arthritis Centre serves all communities in the Interior Region. We are a volunteer led, not-for profit organization.  In Kelowna, we offer information, support and educational programs including the Take Charge: Early Intervention for Osteoarthritis; Inflammatory Arthritis Education; Fibromyalgia; the Arthritis Self Management; and the Lunch and Learn Club. Beginning 2007, we will offer 3 new programs: Managing Emotional Changes, Stress Management and Communications & Arthritis. We are co-located with a physiotherapist who specializes in treating those with inflammatory arthritis.  The physiotherapist offers an arthritis exercise class.   Throughout the year we offer public forums and specialized workshops including golfing or gardening with arthritis.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The CCS Provides limited, short-term financial assistance towards certain treatment-related items and access to symptom management drugs through a partnership with the BC Cancer Agency. This program helps to defray expenses for patients who would be unable to go for treatment because of lack of funds. Patients must complete a confidential financial assessment with a trained emergency aid volunteer.
