Sickroom Equipment Loan Service
Provided without charge for limited period to meet short term needs (90 days) or to allow time for making permanent long term arrangements (responsibility of patient)  requests made through medical or nursing profession, or by recognized Social Service organizations.  Supplies may not be available at all branches and include:  bed trays,  bed tables,  bed pans,  hospital beds,  commode chairs,  urinals,  raised toilet seats,  canes,  crutches,  walkers,  wheelchairs,  other specialized items. Available in some areas on request.  Call to ensure equipment available.

Lung Health Program
The purpose of this program is to assist people with respiratory illness to cope with their illness and improve their physical tolerance for activities of daily living. The 10 classes are split into 1 hour of information and 1 hour of exercise suited to your ability. No doctors referral is necessary and we encourage a significant other to join in the program.

Province-wide, free consultation service provides the public with information about prescription and non-prescription medications, herbal products, possible side-effects, and drug interactions. Has information on new drugs and recent research. Pharmacists also speak to community and professional groups on medication-related topics. Staffed by licensed pharmacists. Hours are 10:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

Purpose is to establish and maintain high standard of mental health and to ensure that proper care and treatment are available to residents of the province.

North Okanagan Falls Prevention Program
Community based program, operating in the communities of Vernon and Enderby.
Funded by Veterans Affairs Canada, sponsored by Health Canada, and administered locally through the Social Planning Council for the North Okanagan.
Free programs and services include:  falls prevention workshops,  medication review workshops,  home safety checks,  falls prevention library.
Falls Prevention Hotline: 558-0040. Staffed by trained senior volunteers 9:00am-3:00pm Mon-Fri, who can provide information on falls prevention, program referrals, or take reports of falls hazards in the community

PharmaCare subsidizes eligible prescription drugs and designated medical supplies, protecting British Columbians from high drug costs. PharmaCare provides financial assistance to British Columbians under Fair PharmaCare and other specialty plans.

Problem Gambling Information & Referral Service
Provides 24 hour toll-free information and referral services for people throughout BC needing help for problem gambling. Referrals include counseling services for both adults and youth, prevention resources, and self-help groups. Service funded by the Ministry of Health Services.

Screening Mammography Program/ BC
One woman in 10 in BC will develop breast cancer. Life saving program available to all women aged 40 and over in BC. Early detection provides 95% cure rate. Screening involves an x-ray examination for women with no signs or symptoms of breast disease. Technique is most accurate and effective method of detecting breast cancers which may be too small to be felt. Doctor’s referral not required, this is a free service funded by Ministry of Health
